Want to study abroad? Here are some scholarships that might help you plan for your future

Scholarships are a boon for students who wish to study abroad and cannot really afford to do so. Finding scholarships can also be a complex process – although a lot is online, it tends to get confusing. Let’s take a look at some merit-based, subject-specific programs that would meet the needs of students in 2022

National Study Abroad Scholarship Program for SC 2022-23

An initiative of the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, the National Study Abroad Scholarship Scheme for SC is for students belonging to Schedule Caste, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribe , etc

Eligibility: Candidates belonging to these categories must be under the age of 35 on the first of April of the year of selection and must meet the academic requirements and have an annual income of less than INR 8 lakhs.

Deadline to apply: March 31, 2022.

Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships

Indian students have been awarded Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships to study full-time masters, masters or doctoral programs in top universities.

Eligibility:

1. All Indian citizens who have lived in India for at least six months prior to the application deadline are eligible for the Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship.

2. Applicants who are citizens of India and have obtained an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution outside India. Must have lived, worked or studied in India for at least two years before applying.

3. Applicants with a postgraduate degree from a foreign university are not eligible.

4. Applicants who have already started their postgraduate studies at a foreign university are not eligible.

5. Applicants for the 2022 scholarships must be born on or after January 1, 1992.

6. Applicants must have a minimum academic grade of 65%, CGPA of 6.8 or GPA of 2.6 from a recognized university/institution.

7. The minimum academic mark must be 70%, GPA 7.2 or GPA 2.8 from a recognized Indian university.

Up to US$100,000 to cover tuition, living expenses, healthcare, and one-way airfare for scholars.

Deadline to apply: March 30, 2022

JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship 2022-23

Indians who aspire to pursue higher education abroad are encouraged to apply for scholarships from the JN Tata Endowment. Loan scholarship applicants may be recommended for a partial “travel scholarship” and a “gift award” based on their academic achievement in their studies.

Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of India, aged 45 or younger as of June 30, 2022, and a graduate of a recognized Indian university with a minimum of 60% in their undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

Other eligibility requirements include:

1. Candidates who have completed their first year of study abroad and are about to start their second year (Fall 2022 – Spring 2023) can also apply.

2. JN Tata scholars who have repaid their previous loan scholarships are eligible to apply.

Deadline to apply: The last date is March 23, 2022.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship 2022

The Erasmus+ scholarship gives students the opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree in any of the European universities and countries. Students also have the option of doing an internship after two years of study.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must have scored 6.5 bands in IELTS.

2. All applicants must be 16 years of school and there is no age limit to apply.

3. Two letters of recommendation are required, depending on the program chosen. Applicants will be able to get more information on the program website.

4. A certificate of residence, attested by a public attorney, guarantees that the applicant has not resided in Europe for approximately one year in the last five years.

5. A cover letter.

Benefits:

1. Monthly allowance of 1100-1500 euros

2. A work visa would be granted to students once they complete their masters or doctorate.

Deadline to apply: December 31, 2022.

Some other specialized scholarship requirements and benefits offered by public and private universities in the United States

Iowa State University: The publicly funded land-grant research university offers more than 100 majors to students in agriculture, computer science, entrepreneurship, and more. This grant is for applicants who will not receive financial sponsorship from their government. Up to $10,000/year for freshmen, while transfer students receive up to $8,000/year.

California Baptist University: CBU, a private Christian institution located in Southern California, offers programs ranging from architecture to international business. Through the Ambassador’s Scholarship, freshmen receive a scholarship worth $12,000 with a GPA of 3.5 and above, while the Diplomat’s Scholarship worth $9,000 can be used by freshmen with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49. National university transfers can benefit from Navigator worth $8,000 and Explorer scholarships worth $6,000.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD): Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a private art school with bases in three locations in Georgia, Atlanta, and Lacoste, offers scholarship programs to its US citizen and non-citizen students. SCAD academic scholarships: Amount per year: 1,500 to 12,000 USD.

Scholarships: US$1,000 – US$7,500.

SCAD Honors Scholarship: Students must demonstrate outstanding academic and/or artistic achievement, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a required 4.0 scale. Scholarship: This scholarship is available to students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, who meet the admission requirements and submit a 500-word essay to consider their application.

University of Viterbo:The University of Viterbo in Wisconsin is a coeducational liberal arts institution. Viterbo is known for offering scholarships of up to $16,000 per year to its freshmen based on their high school GPA. Transferring undergraduate students can receive scholarships up to $8,000 per year.
