BBB Calls for Nominations for Torch Awards | Business

For over 100 years, the Better Business Bureau has built market confidence and served as a liaison between consumers and the business community. In 2020, consumers viewed BBB business profiles over 220 million times, receiving information on more than 6.2 million businesses across the United States. BBB’s rigorous accreditation process assesses business practices against its Trust Standards, which include eight principles that summarize the essentials for building and maintaining trust in businesses:

  • Building trust
  • Advertise honestly
  • Tell the truth
  • Be transparent
  • Honor promises
  • Be responsive
  • Protect confidentiality
  • Embody integrity

Since 2014, BBB Serving the Heart of Texas has been celebrating market models with the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. The award is given to companies that demonstrate their commitment to BBB’s trusted standards, often implementing their own standards that exceed BBB’s accreditation requirements. Award-winning companies reflect the strength of their business community, with ethical practices that benefit the company itself and the community it serves. Companies do not need to be accredited by the BBB to apply for or receive the 2021 BBB Torch Award for Ethics.

“The BBB Torch Award for Ethics recognizes companies that go beyond their work with their communities, their customers, their employees and their market,” said Carrie Hurt, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving the heart from Texas. “The Torch winners are a cut above the rest – they are the best of the best. “

Companies that apply for this prestigious award will be judged by a panel of professionals such as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, business leaders and ethics experts. For the Torch Award for Ethics 2021, judges will assess companies in four areas: character, culture, customers and community.

Submissions open June 7 and will close July 16. BBB will announce the finalists in September, and a virtual ceremony in October will celebrate the Torch Prize winners.

“It is a great honor and privilege to win the Torch Prize,” said Derrick Potter, President of Firefighting’s Finest Moving and Storage, Inc., and 2018 recipient of a BBB Torch Award for Ethics. “Exactly what that means, ethically, with all the mark of confidence behind it. It means a lot. “
