Two people were found dead Thursday at a Wernersville home, and investigators will hold a press conference Friday afternoon at the South Heidelberg Township Police Department to discuss what authorities are calling a murder-suicide, officials said. responsible.

Police Chief Leon J. Grim confirmed on Friday morning that two people were found dead after police forced their way into a house on the 300 block of North Walnut Street.

Police did not release the names of the dead.

Grim said Berks County dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call Wednesday shortly after noon from the home of a person who provided their name and address and hung up.

South Heidelberg Police, which provide services in Wernersville, carried out a home welfare check, the chief said. No one answered their knocks on the door. They also tried to call the caller’s phone number 9-1-1, but no one answered, he said.

Police did not force entry at that time as there was no indication of an emergency, he said.

As of Thursday, Grim said, police had information to believe something was wrong. They obtained a search warrant, broke in and found two dead.

The coroner’s office was called together with District Attorney John T. Adams’s Detective and Forensic Unit.

Adams was also at the scene Thursday.
